The Global Transition to a New Economy is a project of the New Economics Institute, the new economics foundation, Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future and the Green Economy Coalition.

We have developed the Global Transition to a New Economy to capitalize on the momentum we created through our Global Transition 2012 project, to ensure we continue to build a global civil society movement for a new economy.

Key to this movement building is our Global Transition to a New Economy map, which showcases projects around the world that are part of the new economy. The map creates a framework to define the new economy, and a forum for community groups, organizations and individuals to share information and best practice- thereby accelerating the replication of successful new economy projects.

The Global Transition 2012 is an international network of organizations and leading thinkers working to achieve an outcome from the United Nations’ Conference on Sustainable Development 2012 (Rio+20) that catalyzes a ‘Global Transition’ to an economy that maximizes wellbeing, operates within environmental limits and is capable of coping and adapting to global environmental change. We are working on this goal by building a global civil society and stakeholder movement to promote alternative models of development built on the principles of equity and sustainability.
