This initiative has set up a butterfly park as a tourist attraction in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The project employs local staff and farmers from Pete Village, as well as training them. This generates employment and income for the local community and the revenue from tourists provides the funds for other regional conservation and poverty-alleviation projects. The butterfly park provides alternative livelihood means and promotes the preservation of biodiversity and the local ecology.
