NGO and registered charity since 2001, providing information, education and affordable training opportunities in traditional and ecological skills for sustainable living and community resilience. Activities include regular skills training courses, biodiversity surveys and awareness-raising, agroforestry project and native tree nursery. Popular events include Weekend in the Woods and Weekend in the Hills featuring a choice from up to 15 hands-on skills workshops including Basketry, Wood Carving, Blacksmithing, Felt making, Furniture making, Silversmithing, Knife making, Bowl & Spoon making, Coppersmithing, Longbow making, Natural Building, Dry-stone & Lime mortar Walling, Spinning & Weaving & Natural Dyeing, Herb Lore. We also have regular skills exhibitions and demonstrations at fairs, shows and festivals around Ireland. CELT also campaigns for a better and more sustainable environment and stands against projects that our members believe to be harmful to the Irish environment such as Shale-gas Fracking and Genetically Modified Organisms. We also provide information and make submissions regarding planning projects and developments that have environmental impacts such as commercial forestry, water and air related activities, wind and wood energy projects.
